Buckman Jet Drilling > Case Cutting

C-5 RHINO

The C-5 Rhino is a method that utilizes a PDM (mud motor) to  create 1 in. holes through multiple casing types in a matter of minutes.

C-5 ABRASIVE

The C-5 Abrasive is a method that creates two 1 in. holes simultaneously utilizing BJD’s sand jetting technology

C-5 SABER

The C-5 Saber is a method that utilizes an internal casing reamer that removes an entire (360°) section of the casing.

 C-5 RHINO

The C-5 Rhino case cutting method utilizes a PDM (mud motor) to generate power to create a 1 inch diameter hole in multiple casing types in a matter of minutes. This case cutting process utilizes the same pumping system as is required by BJD’s jet bits.

Ease of operation was a design criteria for this project. Loads are controlled internally and tuned prior to each job. Motor torque is analyzed with other parameters to confirm hole completion. Due to the precision engineered cutter utilized by the system, cut times in a wide grade of casing types, including P-110, are decreased to as short as 1 minute.

The C-5 Rhino system utilizes the Concept 5 method. The Concept 5 method is where the cutting assembly is able to make 4+ holes in the casing per trip, cutting down on trip times.

Features and Benefits:

  • The pump from the jetting process is utilized to do case cutting
  • Multiple hole completion techniques
  • Ease of operation
  • Casing integrity is maintained

 C-5 ABRASIVE

The C-5 Abrasive case cutting method utilizes BJD’s sand jetting technology to create two one inch diameter holes in opposing directions simultaneously. This system utilizes an indexing sequence tool that allows alignment to be maintained for multiple holes. It also utilizes the Concept 5 technique reducing operation times.
This case cutting technique can be used in multiple string casing completions.

Features and Benefits:

  • Creates clean perforations
  • Maintains cement integrity
  • Can penetrate multiple casing strings

 C-5 SABER

The BJD Saber is a method that utilizes an internal casing reamer that removes an entire (360°) section of the casing. This is a reliable case cutting technique that if allowed can increase the speed of the jet drilling process. With an entire section of the casing removed, the jet drilling process can be treated as if it is an open hole completion. This allows an operator to freely place a higher density of laterals in any configuration necessary.

Features and Benefits:

  • Overall shorter process time
  • Allows for higher density of laterals (8-10 per level)
  • Can remove both casing and cement to start the jet drilling process
